Frequently asked questions
Format and structure
Six digits, read as three pairs. The first pair is the province or the capital, such as 12 for Phnom Penh or 02 for Battambang. The second pair is the district, Khan, or municipality, such as 02 for Khan Daun Penh. The third pair is the commune or Sangkat, such as 10 for Sangkat Srah Chak.
Prakas No. 77, issued by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on 30 December 2025. It replaces the previous system set out in Prakas No. 301 of 14 September 2017.
A code ending in 0000 names a whole province or capital, like 170000 for Siem Reap. A code ending in 00 narrows to a district, Khan, or municipality, like 170900 for Prasat Bakong District. Every other code points to one commune or Sangkat, like 170902 for Bakong Commune.
Shipping and everyday use
Yes. Couriers such as DHL, FedEx, and Cambodia Post, and marketplaces such as Amazon and AliExpress, use the six-digit code to route a package to the right local depot. Leaving it off, or shortening it, can delay or misdirect the delivery.
Put the six digits at the end of the recipient's line, after the city or province, for example “Phnom Penh 120210, Cambodia” for an address in Sangkat Srah Chak. Keep the house number, street, Phum, Sangkat or Khan, and district on the lines above it.
Some older international forms reject a 6-digit code. If that happens, entering 12000 or five zeros is a common workaround, but note the real code in the delivery instructions and include all six digits somewhere in the address whenever you can.
